Thoughts: This is one of my most favorite ongoing projects. In my fine art career, it is my responsibility as a member of Blue Cone Studios to create marketing collateral for our monthly artwalk and promote the event on local calendar listings.
What I absolutely love about this project is the ability to think divergently. There is such a wide variety of artists and disciplines represented in the studio that choosing one style for the whole series of banner seems like a disservice to individual artists. We pick a theme for each artwalk, and I design to the theme. It is also important to represent the many different populations who work in or visit the studio and to stay out of the normative mindset when picking stock imagery or designing with erotica in mind.
With these new banners, I am happy to report that our artwalk turnout has increased compared to prior years.
